So easy to use
Glen (Paso Robles) 7/28/2014 12:05 PM
We've been using this alarm for a little over a month now, and it's incredibly easy to deal with. Mom actually remembers when she hears the alarm to hold tight and wait for us to come help her do whatever it is she's trying to get up for. We're really lucky that she's so agreeable. I definitely recommend getting the extra alarm monitor. It's worth 30 bucks to not have to mess with the cord clips with my own arthritis issues.

Ok, does the job

This bed and chair alarm was working great, up until the nursing home my fall risk mom is in called to say it was broken. When I went to visit, they showed me that the little plastic piece on the end of the chair pad cord was broken. The bed pad still works fine. How does that piece just break if the pad was on her wheel chair and never anywhere else? If it wasn't for that happening I'd give this more stars. Now I've got to deal with a broken chair pad. -----Response from Kerr Medical: The part of this customer's pad cord that broke, the plastic clip on the end, needs to be properly removed from the alarm unit when being disconnected. If a caregiver is not careful and pulls on the cord when disconnecting the clip, rather than depressing the prong holding it into the alarm unit port, that clip will eventually break. Just as you would not yank a phone cord out of a telephone jack, you cannot yank or pull on sensor pad cords. A strain relief is also provided on the alarm unit, to help avoid accidental damage to the clip. The alarm unit's user instructions refer to this feature and recommend using it. Remember that caregivers who have paid for a product themselves will usually care for the product more gently. If you are purchasing for use in a facility, it is very important that the staff is properly trained on how to use this product to avoid damage. End user damage is not covered by manufacturer warranty.

Worth the money

I purchased this with two alarms, so I wouldn't have to deal with switching one alarm between the pads. Best buy I've made in the last few months. I can actually fall asleep at night now and know that if my dad gets up in the middle of the night, I will be awoken by a (loud, I admit) noise, so I can make sure he's not on the floor. We've visited the ER after 2 falls, and let me tell you, that's been a lot more expensive, and it's taken dad a long time to heal from those.

Helps prevent husband from falling!
V Henson (Sent to us in October 2012) 3/7/2013 4:55 PM
This alarm is loud and certainly lets me know that my husband is trying to get up from the bed or the chair. I like the fact there are 2 pads, one for bed and one for chair. It's worked at keeping my husband from wandering and potentially falling.

Like having both pads so they don't have to move from bed to chair!

Arrive in timely manner. Was what they said it was. Works well. Mother is in a assisted living home and the girls really like the bed and chair alarm. Nice to have two so they don't have to keep moving the pad.

Just what is needed!

Bought for my elderly mother residing in an Assisted Living Facility. She has a sitter at night because she is a fall risk and wants to wander. Volume control was a must -- loud enough to hear from an adjoining room but not too loud to wake others in the facility. Easy reset on alarm. So far, very pleased.
